This is a small Eric Clapton Biography. Eric Clapton was born on 30th March 1945 in Surrey England to16 year old Patricia Molly and a 24 year old Canadian soldier Edward Walter who returned to his wife in Canada even before Eric was born. As it was extremely difficult for a 16 year old to raise a child, Eric’s grandparents raised him as their own child. He grew up believing his mother to be sister. His last name comes from his mother’s father’s name. His mother later married and moved to Canada and Germany. He was a quite a polite child and it was when he was nine that he knew the truth about his birth. This affected him a lot and he failed his 11 plus exam.

Brought up in a very musically inclined family, he got his guitar at the age of 13. He was expelled from Kingston College of art as he had not submitted enough work. Around this age he became interested in the American blues. He joined various music bands and toured extensively. He is a triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and has won 18 Grammy awards.
